Trump Pokes a Hornet’s Nest

The United States 6th Fleet is short 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles today.
And Syria is short one airfield.
Trump ordered it destroyed last night.
The airfield housed the planes that allegedly carried out Tuesday’s chemical attack that killed over 100 Syrian civilians and sickened over 500.
‘It is in the vital national security interest of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons,’ said the president in justification of the raid. ‘There can be no dispute that Syria used banned chemical weapons.’
‘Unlike the previous administration, President Trump confronted a pivotal moment in Syria and took action,’ gushed ‘Never Trumpers’ Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham in a joint statement.
Trump’s national security adviser, Lt. Gen. H. R. McMaster, said the strikes represent ‘a big shift’ in U. S. policy.
So they do.
