CNET FOUNDER AIMS TO CHANGE MONEY AND CHANGE THE WORLD

NEW YORK (InsideBitcoins) – In a quest to reduce the amount of volatility in bitcoin and to push for widespread adoption, Halsey Minor, the founder of CNET.com, is launching Bitreserve within days, out of private beta. By reducing volatility, he and his team believe they can make bitcoin appeal to more people.
‘The reason our tag line is ‘Change money, change the world’ is, if you make the world of money more egalitarian, then you make the world of people more egalitarian too,’ Minor says in the site’s introductory video.
Minor has a long history with the Internet, dating back to the early 90s when he quit his corporate finance job and launched CNET, a tech-news website. He stayed with that company for seven years before stepping down as CEO to focus on investing. The company went on to be acquired in 2008 for $1.8 billion.
‘Bitcoin is an amazing innovation and it allows, for the first time – any two people without any financial institution involved – to be able to exchange value with each other,’ Minor said.
